Backstory

My family members regularly consume coffee made with K-cups, and I wanted to find a way to reuse them in my craft projects.
I remembered watching a craft where flowers were made using plastic cups, which sparked an idea. The thought of reducing waste, even in a small way, felt exciting! After all, it’s better than not using them at all.
Soon, I began imagining a wreath made from flowers created using empty K-cups. The wreath that you see here was the exact image I had in mind when I started this project.

Step-By-Step Written Instructions

  1. Empty and Clean bunch of K-Cups (I used 20) and cutout rims on them.

2. Spray all the prepared cups with white acrylic spay paint.

3. Next, cut the cups as shown. Then flip the cups upside down and press them to flatten slightly. Straighten the flower and curl the petals backward.

Hold the petals and press gently so they open up and form a fully open flower. Shape the petals as you wish.

The process of forming the flower is shown below.

4. Using a glue gun, apply some glue to the center of one flower. Then stick another flower on top of it, making sure the petals are not directly on top of each other.

5. Take a cotton swab and cut it in half. Spread the fibers in a circular shape and stick them in the center of the flower. Then glue a jingle bell in the middle, as shown.

6. Use two cardboard rings. Cover the round edges of the rings with masking tape.

7. Tie 4 bells in a row at the end of a string.

8. Place the string on one of the rings and using the glue gun, stick the two rings to each other.

9. Next mark a portion on the ring where green garland can be wrapped.

10. Next wrap a sparkly ribbon on the remaining bare ring space

11. Make a bow out of a Dollar Tree wired ribbon.

12. Stick the bow on the center of the wrapped garland.

13. Finally Hang it on the door in the front porch for everyone to see.

Tips

  1. Instead of K-cups, you can also use small plastic cups or the ketchup cups you get at fast-food restaurants.

    2. You can make as many layers of petals as you like—you don’t need to stick to just two layers.

    3. The size of the wreath depends entirely on your preference. You can easily make it bigger or smaller.

    4. If you know another way to make a bow with ribbon, feel free to use that method instead

Final Note

I hope you liked this way of using up used K-cups. By making more layers of petals for each flower, you can reduce a significant amount of waste.
