Easy Faux Stained Glass Art DIY!!

Description

I painted delicate peonies on a sheet of plexiglass using homemade glass paints. This faux stained glass artwork can be displayed in a window to catch the light or hung on a wall as elegant decor. It’s a simple yet striking DIY that adds charm and color to any space

Backstory

I’ve explored quite a bit of faux stained glass over the years, from painting glass panels on our front doors to making suncatchers and decorative panels. It’s one of my favorite types of art! The only thing that held me back was the cost of glass paints. But once I discovered how to make homemade glass paints using glue, I was free to go wild with it.

For this project, I painted peonies on a sheet of plexiglass using my DIY glass paint recipe. Instead of expensive liquid leading, I used Dimensional Tulip Paint in black, a much more budget-friendly option that still gives great results. One bottle lasts a long time

Materials I Used:

  • Plexiglass (I bought a 24″x36″ sheet for $4 and cut it in half to make two 24″x18″ pieces)
  • School glue & clear glue
  • Food colors
  • Acrylic paints
  • Black Dimensional Tulip Paint
  • Paintbrushes

That $4 plexiglass sheet can be used for multiple projects, making this art very affordable!
