Backstory

Rhinestones and mirrors have always fascinated me, and I use them in my crafts every chance I get. So, this bling project was right up my alley!

When I saw an empty pickle jar, I swear I heard it scream, “Bling me!” 😊 Naturally, I had to honor the jar’s wish.

I had two empty pickle jars, so I practiced on one and then created the second one for this video. To display them properly, I wanted to make a tray — and this gave me the perfect excuse to use the acrylic mirrors and mirror tiles I already had at home. And just like that, this jazzy DIY decor project came to life.

Tips For this DIY

  1. Glue Tube tip: make sure, your E6000 glue tube has fine tip. Tip helps make thin line of glue to stick rhinestones.
  2. I Tray Width Insight: I wanted to make a tray that was narrower than the one I made. Acrylic mirrors I used were about 4″ wide. This width was not good enough for the jars to be place on the tray well. That meant I needed two rows of mirrors. To achieve ideal width I could cut the mirrors. But then it becomes a hassle because sometimes cutting is not accurate. So if you see that the tray could be narrower, I agree. :-).
  3. Tip on Jar Lid: Make sure to paint the lid with desired color. Silver in this case, before sticking the rhinestones. The reason is, after sticking the rhinestones on the lid, the original lid color shows through. That bothered me and painting it silver through the rhinestones was very difficult.
